The community does, full stop. The Town acts as a steward to protect the integrity of the brand and ensure it reflects shared values. The brand is meant to be lived, used and brought to life by the people who make Newmarket what it is.


Why did we create a community brand?

Because Newmarket has something worth saying, and a distinctive way of saying it. The community brand helps us clearly express who we are, bring people together around a shared sense of place and pride, and make it easier for anyone to represent Newmarket in a consistent and authentic way. It also supports local ideas, events, businesses and community moments.

It gives us a common language and visual system that feels real, human and unmistakably Newmarket.


Who can use the community brand?

Anyone contributing to the life of the community can use the brand. This includes residents, local businesses, community groups and non-profits, event organizers and partner organizations. If your use reflects Newmarket’s values and spirit, you are welcome to use it.


What can I use the community brand for?

The brand is here to help bring Newmarket to life. It can be used for events and festivals, community programs and grassroots initiatives, social media and digital storytelling, and creative projects that highlight Newmarket. Merchandise or giveaways are also possible, with approval where required.

Are there rules for using the community brand?

Yes. The brand is open and shared, but it also needs care. To keep it strong and recognizable, everyone is asked to follow the brand guidelines, use approved logos, colours and typography, avoid altering or distorting brand assets, and ensure all use aligns with the brand values.

The guidelines are not about restriction. They are about protecting what makes the brand work. Once you’ve reached out to partner with us, we’ll share these assets and the brand usage guidelines with you.


What type of uses of the community brand are not allowed?

How does the community brand support local businesses and organizations?

The community brand may not be used for political campaigns or political advocacy, in ways that suggest Town endorsement without approval, or in misleading, offensive or inappropriate contexts. It also cannot be used for content that promotes harm, discrimination or exclusion.

The brand stands for belonging, and its use should reflect that.


Where can I access the brand assets?

To start, community and business partners are asked to complete a short request form and take part in a brand discovery session. This helps create a shared understanding of what the brand represents and how to use it well. After that, brand assets will be shared through an online transfer.

nmrkt. was built with care, conviction and a deep belief in each other. The brand was shaped through extensive community listening, including conversations, workshops, surveys and feedback from residents, businesses, creators and community groups.

We held more than 85 listening sessions, spoke with over 185 people, and gathered insight from 589 Newmarket residents and 500 GTA residents through community sentiment surveys. The result reflects what we heard and who we are.


A shared community brand helps tell a stronger story about Newmarket to talent, visitors, partners and each other. It allows businesses and organizations to show up as recognizably Newmarket, align with a clear community-driven identity, strengthen local pride and connection, and gain visibility through shared language and visuals.

It is a collective lift. When one story shines, we all do.
